“I haven’t been alone since my 3 year old was born.”

That’s what one single mom said to us on Saturday morning at the start of Single Moms’ Morning Out. She watched as the friendly volunteer led her child away to his fun adventure—while she began her morning of pampering.

Thank you to the three area churches who made the event a huge success. The leadership teams and armies of volunteers at Gloria Dei Lutheran in Des Moines, Prairie Ridge Church in Ankeny, and Crossroads Church in Norwalk were the hands and feet of Jesus while working hard to make the morning unforgettable for hundreds of moms. Thank you to the massage therapists, stylists, and makeup artists who made each woman feel loved and beautiful.

And thanks to YOU and your amazing generosity the Blessings Boutiques at all three churches were filled to the brink with beautiful things for all the moms to shop! We couldn’t have done it without you.

Single Mom’s morning out is what led me back to church! It didn’t happen right away, but I kept randomly finding things from the gift bag around my house with Prairie Ridge’s name on it. And my twins kept asking when they could go see Miss Tammy again (she did chikdcare). So I eventually felt that God was nudging me to go. So we started going around July. I was extremely uncomfortable because of my social anxiety and my boys were afraid to go into their childcare room if a man was in there; but we kept coming back anyway (I bribed the boys with donuts!). Wouldn’t you know it, but God eventually lifted my social anxiety and the boys fear! I now have a church home with a church family and it’s absolutely beautiful! I went through the Alpha course and dedicated my life to Christ through baptism in December. What seemed like a nice little day of pampering God used as a life changing event, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s just what my boys and I needed!

Laura, this is so wonderful to hear! God couldn’t have given you a better, more loving place to be than with our friends at Prairie Ridge. He’s so good! May the Lord continue to bless you and your boys. I truly hope we get to see you again at another Single Mom’s Morning Out.
